Dear Nksagar,

Greetings from New Orleans!

This week, we need your help brainstorming solutions to climate change! As you may know, our food system contributes about 30 percent of all green gas emissions, more than any other sector except energy production. At the same time, agriculture is significantly impacted by droughts, flooding, changing temperatures, and other impacts of climate change.

Agriculture can also be the solution. "It is time to innovate," says U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Director-General José Graziano da Silva, "This time, innovation means increasing the resilience and sustainability of our food systems, especially in the face of climate change."

At Food Tank, we know there are farmers, researchers, policymakers, and many others seeking new ways, and revitalizing traditional agricultural practices, that improve agriculture's effects on climate, and vice versa. Inspiring solutions include agroecology, agroforestry, and promoting the benefits of perennial grain crops.

These possibilities—and the stories of hope—are what Food Tank is excited about, and we want to hear from you!

What agricultural innovations do you think work best to combat climate change? We want to know from you what’s working and why! Please email me at danielle@foodtank.com to share your stories!

Sincerely,

Danielle Nierenberg
